Trip of a Life Time - Alaska - Anchorage and Seward

June 1st we left for our amazing summer vacation to Alaska.  My parents had been previously and convinced us to go cruising with them and the vacation was amazing!  Ryan and Kyle are the delightful age of 9 where they still love being with their parents, but they are like little sponges and so excited to learn.  The last time they rode in a plan was when they were free, so the plane ride with movies was a fantastic start for them as we flew from Indy to Anchorage, with a layover in Minneapolis.

 We arrived in Anchorage around 9pm.  Jason and I attempted to go get a drink for our anniversary after checking into our hotel, only to find out the restaurants were closed as it was past 11, yet the sun was still up!

The next morning we awoke "early" to catch a 6am train ride from Anchorage to Seward.  This train ride was AMAZING.  The beauty was indescribable.  We saw moose, sheep, and eagles along with the mountains and glaciers.   This was a highlight for this trip!

 Upon arriving in Seward, we walking to the docks to get on a lunch cruise around Resurrection Bay. Once again, the scenery was unbelievable!  We got to explore the world of wildlife up close in the waters of Resurrection Bay, drifting close to massive bird rookeries (including eagles and puffine) and sea lion colonies. The ship stops along the route for whale, sea otter, or Dall's porpoise sightings. We got to see Bear Glacier, the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park.

 Kyle and I got a little seasick for an hour when we entered the ocean waters...so we were buddies hanging out on the least rocky part of the boat.

 RyKy did the junior ranger program for Kenai Fjord National Park.

We ended this busy day at the local Mexican Restaurant and a good night's sleep!
