Traveling north for Christmas

We decided to do the 8+ hour drive to Rhinelander, Wis., in stages, making a few stops along the way. After looking at the weather we decided to drive via Chicago which allowed for the boys' first experience at IKEA. The boys enjoyed the little kid's play area and entertained quite a few shoppers.

Friday evening we stopped at Madison to have a few hours with Jill and Kirk. This was a very fun, yet brief stop, as snow was heading our way.
We continued to our hometown of Wisconsin Rapids to spend a few nights at Jason's parent's house. It was nice to be "home." We spent quality time with Jason's parents which is always a nice treat and it gave us a great opportunity to catch up and let them spend quality time with Team RyKy. In addition, we sampled some of our favorite restaurants (China Palace, Taco John's, Mead Inn), attended the Church that Jason and I belonged to growing up, hung out with Drew, Katie, Lisa and John, and shoveled 14" of snow. It is hard to believe we have been away from Wisconsin Rapids for more than 10 years. Time goes by so quickly.

Then it was on to Rhinelander on Christmas Eve.
Stay tuned. . .
